But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.” James 3:17-18 NLT
The attitude and conduct of the believer should be vertical (from above). This behavior is described in today's scripture as pure, peace loving, gentle, willing to think of others first, merciful, plenteous in good deeds, showing no favoritism, and truly sincere. This is a tall order! However, we must realize that we are God's children. We should have attributes that evidence that profession. When the Spirit of God lives within us we are, by His presence and power, capable of being like our Heavenly Father. With the characteristics listed above, take the time today to examine and analyze your character and conduct to see if you are behaving like Jesus. If you are like me you will find that there is work to be done in these things. All of us are still growing in our relationship with Jesus and He is, most certainly, patient with us in our development as His disciples. The longer we know Him, the more our conduct and character should line up with His likeness. If you aren't becoming more like Him in your walk of life, perhaps you should question your relationship with Him. To know Him is to love Him. To love Him is to desire to please. Let's let our actions speak louder than our words!
