“Oh, the joys of those who trust the Lord, who have no confidence in the proud or in those who worship idols.”
Psalms 40:4 NLT The people who live life to its fullest are those who understand that our sinful pride takes us to a place of self- sufficiency and arrogance. This is the sin of Lucifer himself (see Isaiah 14:12-17). Jesus had to correct the seventy (some manuscripts and translations say "seventy-two") disciples in Luke 10:1-20 when they had returned from their commission to heal the sick and tell of the Kingdom of God. They returned with a prideful glee about being able to cast out demons in Jesus name. Jesus immediately reminds them of Satan's fall from heaven. Pride is the primary sin of Satan and sinful humanity. Our pride makes us rebellious and leads us into a life of selfishness. The results are always disastrous. In our arrogance we make, for ourselves, idols. These idols can be things like career pursuits, cars, houses, pleasures, etc. All the while, our lives are being driven down a road that leads to destruction. This is Satan's way of pied piping us into the gates of Hell. Without even realizing it, many (most if I might add) are plunging down this whirlpool of disaster. Only those who place their full trust in the Lord Jesus Christ are able to navigate through this awful maze that we think is life. Life, as we now know it, isn't really life at all. We live in a world swallowed by sin and engulfed in a sea of pagan practices. Every day we are bombarded by the onslaught of the liberal media that touts this insanity in our faces. Our minds are being mesmerized and desensitized to sin and ungodliness. We now think the abnormal is normal. We now call things acceptable that God calls abomination. Our pride and our self worship will end, ultimately, in eternal damnation. Jesus warned us about this. “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” Matthew 7:13-14 NLT He has called humanity to repent and be saved, yet most of us rush on like Helter Skelter with our fingers in our ears. Who will hear the call of God and come out? Who will trust in the only True Life? True life is found only in the Author of Life!!! Jesus is His Name! Today, I make my choice. I know the One who is Life and who gives life. How about you?
