What's Your Foundation?

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:24-27‬ ‭NLT‬‬
What foundation lies beneath your life? What are you building your life upon? This question is of utmost importance. No matter what your life may look like, no matter how things may appear to be, the real test is when the storms of life bring the torrents of rain, flooding, and gale force winds. Only then will you know how strong your life really is. The foundation is the most important part of a building and yet it is the most unseen part. The foundation isn't meant to be attractive and impressive. The foundation is meant to be solid, strong, and unmovable. It's purpose is to give integrity to the edifice that is erected upon it.
When we live our lives in direct disregard for God's Word we are foolish. We build our lives upon a flawed, faulty, and fake foundation. In the moments of life's most trying times we will be left with nowhere to stand. The sands of time are always shifting. The "well groomed" lives we have aspired to build will ultimately turn out to be a facade and a masquerade.
When we live our lives in obedience to the Word of God we are wise. This makes our lives secure. We are built upon the Everlasting Rock that cannot be shaken. The foundation will stand strong and secure no matter what life's storms may bring.
Some of you are flirting with disaster and time will tell your story. Others will live to testify to the saving power of God!
Which do you want to be?
