What a Mighty God He Is!!

“God is honored in Judah; his name is great in Israel. Jerusalem is where he lives; Mount Zion is his home. There he has broken the fiery arrows of the enemy, the shields and swords and weapons of war. (Interlude) You are glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains. Our boldest enemies have been plundered. They lie before us in the sleep of death. No warrior could lift a hand against us. At the blast of your breath, O God of Jacob, their horses and chariots lay still. No wonder you are greatly feared! Who can stand before you when your anger explodes? From heaven you sentenced your enemies; the earth trembled and stood silent before you. You stand up to judge those who do evil, O God, and to rescue the oppressed of the earth. (Interlude) Human defiance only enhances your glory, for you use it as a weapon. Make vows to the Lord your God, and keep them. Let everyone bring tribute to the Awesome One. For he breaks the pride of princes, and the kings of the earth fear him.”

Israel has always been the apple of God’s eye. Jerusalem has been the epicenter of God’s work in the world. The New Jerusalem will be His eternal dwelling place (see Revelation 21). There He will set up the eternal heaven, where there will be no violence or war. His peace will reign in all of creation once again. The Prince of Peace will return to this earth some day soon. His rule will be uncontested. He won’t be voted in, voted out, grow old or feeble, and He will reign forever. No propaganda will fill the air. Only righteousness will be known from east to west, north to south. Satan, sin, sorrow, sickness, and suffering will be gone forever.  This is another Psalm of praise to God for His triumph over His enemies. Indeed, He is Supreme over all! No one can thwart His plans. He uses the efforts of mankind to proclaim His Sovereignty. No matter what mankind may ascribe to their own ability, it is God who has the ownership. Nothing we do is of our own independence. Whether we recognize it or not, we are totally dependent upon God for our entire existence. No man can stamp his copyright on the side of a mountain. No man can sew a label on a meadow. No man can claim rights to the songs that the birds sing. Only Jesus!!! He flung the stars in space. He placed the sun at the precise place to allow life to exist on earth (93 million miles from the earths surface). He set the earth on its axis and set it in motion. He designed the moon to reflect the rays of the sun and control the ocean tides. With absolute precision He determined the exact measure of nitrogen and oxygen in the atmosphere around the earth. He is the Chemist of chemists. He is the Engineer of engineers. He is the Professor of profession. He is the Principal of Principles. Whew, I’m getting stirred by the Holy Spirit as I compose this. What a Mighty God He Is!!!!!!!
