“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.”
Psalms 27:14 NLT Waiting is a difficult thing, especially when we want immediate results. We live in a culture that is accustomed to getting instant gratification. We complain if we have to wait "too long" in the drive thru line at McDonalds. We get agitated by the lack of cashiers available at the check out when we shop at Wal-Mart. We are always in a mad dash to do something. Our "schedule" can't afford a delay. That's how we commonly view waiting - a delay. Have you ever been stuck in traffic when you are already running tight on time? Have you ever sat a traffic light that seemed to be stuck? How about this one - Ever sat at restaurant for an hour, can't find the server, and still no refill on the drink and no food on the table? I'm sure we "Christians" have handled those situations with absolute patience and impeccable character! Ha!! We, too are often just as impatient as non believers. We don't "wait" well. Perhaps you are facing a crisis in your life today. Perhaps you are about to make an impulsive decision on a matter. Let me advise you to "wait". Stop for a moment and take the time to talk to God about the situation. Ask Him to align your heart with His. Ask Him to give you His eyes to see things as He does. Ask Him to impart His mind to you so you can think like He thinks. Ask Him to open your ears to hear what He is saying to you. Submit yourself to the Holy Spirit and let Him lead the way. If you don't know what to do, don't do anything until you hear from Him. Simply "wait". The worst thing to do when you don't know what to do is try to, prematurely, fix it. Don't let your impatience make matters worse. Wait on the Lord!!!
