“Those the Lord blesses will possess the land, but those he curses will die. The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.” Psalms 37:22-24 NLT
The children of God are the ultimate victors. We are destined to possess earth (see Revelation 21)! The wicked will be destroyed (see Revelation 20)! Isn't it great to know that God is involved in the very steps that the godly take? Something that must be kept in mind here is this: "the godly"! This isn't referring to the "religious" or the "church goer". Although being religious has value and so does going to church, we cannot claim godliness just by religious association. Godliness comes from a life that is, first, submitted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ! Secondly, a life that is lived in obedience to His Lordship! Many call Jesus Savior, but it is essential to call Him Lord! He can't be our Savior until He is first submitted to as Lord! His Lordship qualifies Him as the all sufficient Savior! Listen to the way the Holy Spirit lays it out for us in Romans 10:8-10: In fact, it says, “The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” Romans 10:8-10 NLT Recognition of Jesus Lordship, and repentance of sin, lead to salvation. Salvation by faith! (see Romans 5:1). Godliness is positionally granted to us in Christ. Godliness is practically demonstrated in us when we obey His Word! A life that is submitted to Jesus Christ and lived to glorify His Name is a godly life. The godly are the blessed ones. This doesn't mean that we live perfect lives. What it does mean is that we are the children of God and we are carefully watched and guided by His righteous hand! Isn't it comforting and reassuring to know that He has the godly by the hand? If you are one of the godly, trust in His all seeing eye and His ever guiding hand! He is FOR you! If He is for you, who can be against you? “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” Romans 8:31 NLT
