“Come with great power, O God, and rescue me! Defend me with your might. Listen to my prayer, O God. Pay attention to my plea. For strangers are attacking me; violent people are trying to kill me. They care nothing for God. Interlude But God is my helper. The Lord keeps me alive! May the evil plans of my enemies be turned against them. Do as you promised and put an end to them. I will sacrifice a voluntary offering to you; I will praise your name, O Lord, for it is good. For you have rescued me from my troubles and helped me to triumph over my enemies.” Psalms 54:1-7 NLT
David was hiding from Saul, who wanted to kill him. David cried out to God for refuge and protection. The saga is recorded in 1 Samuel Chapters 18-31. David knew his only true defense was the LORD!! In our own struggles, we must learn to cry out to God and depend upon Him for our provision and protection. Being obedient to God is the only sure way to have victory in Jesus. An old hymn says" Trust and obey, for there's no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey"! ("Trust and Obey" John H. Sammis)
