The Web of False Teaching

Dear children, the last hour is here. You have heard that the Antichrist is coming, and already many such antichrists have appeared. From this we know that the last hour has come. These people left our churches, but they never really belonged with us; otherwise they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they did not belong with us.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:18-19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

There are those who infiltrate the ranks of the church as representatives of the devil. They have charisma, speak the lingo, and know the rhetoric. However, time will tell the story. Eventually, their true nature comes to the surface. When they can’t submit to authority and/or they can’t accept sound biblical teaching they abandon the church. These people often take with them simple souls who are swayed by their Antichrist spirit. Unknowingly, they get caught in a web of false teaching and become a casualty. We must always be alert and on guard concerning the spiritual atmosphere and environment around us. The devil is always trying to weasel his way into the church to deceive those within. Those who are born of the Spirit of God can discern the error of those who carry an Antichrist spirit (please see I John 4:1-6). Although it is not easy to contend with false teachers, It is better to see a false spirit leave the church than to allow it to infect the body of Christ. Just as the human body is better without disease, so the church is better without false teachers. “And now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them. Such people are not serving Christ our Lord; they are serving their own personal interests. By smooth talk and glowing words they deceive innocent people.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭16:17-18‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “If people are causing divisions among you, give a first and second warning. After that, have nothing more to do with them. For people like that have turned away from the truth, and their own sins condemn them.” ‭‭Titus‬ ‭3:10-11‬ ‭NLT‬‬
