Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.”
Revelation 3:6 NLT Once again, Jesus beckons the church to hear what the Spirit is saying. This statement is made to each of the seven churches of Asia Minor (modern day Turkey). Every church must hear the voice of the Holy Spirit if they are to be obedient to Christ. The Holy Spirit is the administrator of the church. Jesus is Lord of the church. The Holy Spirit teaches us the things of Jesus. “But I will send you the Advocate —the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me.” John 15:26 NLT The word "Advocate" here is "Paraclete" in the Greek language (the New Testament was originally written in Greek). The word "Paraclete" means "Comforter, Encourager, or Counselor". The Holy Spirit testifies of Jesus! He teaches us who Christ is and what He wants us to do. He comforts, encourages, and counsels us in the things of Jesus. We must develop an ear for hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit. Ask God, today, to open your ears to the Holy Spirit! Perhaps you have some wax in your spiritual ears that impedes the voice of God. Ask Him to clean out your ears. Maybe you have listened to the things of the world so long, and with such volume, that you have experienced hearing loss. Ask God to restore your hearing for His sake. He still opens deaf ears! What a shame it is that there are so many who come in and out of the "church" doors every week that simply don't hear what the Holy Spirit is speaking to them. Even more terrible is the fact that many "churches" gather in what we call "church services" and yet the voice of the Holy Spirit isn't even heard from the pulpit. We go through our motions, speak all the "church" jargon, know all the "church" lingo, and yet we are dead! God help us!!! The Church must hear the voice of the Holy Spirit!!! In many cases, we have ran Him out of our "churches" or we have told Him what He can or can't do in the church. The time has come to give the church back to Jesus and ask Him to fill us with the Holy Spirit once again. Then, and only then, will we hear His voice in the church!
