How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of Heaven’s Armies. I long, yes, I faint with longing to enter the courts of the Lord. With my whole being, body and soul, I will shout joyfully to the living God. Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow builds her nest and raises her young at a place near your altar, O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, my King and my God! What joy for those who can live in your house, always singing your praises.
Psalm 84:1-4 NLT Do we yearn to spend time in the presence of God? Our time is spent pursuing things that are fleeting. We chase the wind, search for the pot of gold at the end of the proverbial rainbow, and blow bubbles that only pop and leave us blowing more. We are, too easily, allured by the things that are but passing shadows. Our souls deepest desire is to spend time in the courts of our Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ! However, we keep feeding this hunger with things of this world. We try to quench the thirst of our dry and barren souls at the mirage of the temporary. The psalmist had a passion for the presence of God. He knew that the only place for true satisfaction was in the presence of God. What are you hungry and thirsty for? What table are you pulling up to and what fountain are you drinking from? Let me advise you to come to the table of grace. There the plate is always full and the cup is never empty. A place awaits you!!
