This salvation was something even the prophets wanted to know more about when they prophesied about this gracious salvation prepared for you. They wondered what time or situation the Spirit of Christ within them was talking about when he told them in advance about Christ’s suffering and his great glory afterward. They were told that their messages were not for themselves, but for you. And now this Good News has been announced to you by those who preached in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It is all so wonderful that even the angels are eagerly watching these things happen.” 1 Peter 1:10-12 NLT
The revelation of Jesus Christ, and the gospel He brought and taught, is the greatest thing that has ever happened to humanity. For centuries, even millennia, men had longed for the coming Messiah. He came! His name is Jesus!!! God revealed Himself to mankind through the incarnation (God becoming a man). All the way back to Genesis 3:15 we see the prophetic utterance of God about the coming Savior. "Messiah" is the English translation of the Hebrew word used to identify the promised "Deliverer" (Savior - see Daniel 9:25-26) of the Jewish people. "Christ" is the English translation for the Greek word that is the same as the Messiah. When we say "Jesus Christ" we are acknowledging that He is The Messiah, The Christ, God's Anointed One! (see Matthew 16:16). If you truly know the Messiah, Jesus, then you should know that you are part of God's royal family (see I Peter 2:9) and you are the recipient of the greatest treasure in all of creation and throughout all of history. There is no greater thing to know or experience. Even the angels stand in absolute awe as they watch the Hope of The Ages unfold in human history. Do you get it?? Wow!! I'm having a shouting spell right now as the Holy Spirit churns my very being within. I am one of God's holy children. Not by anything I have done, but because of the salvation I know and possess through Jesus, The Messiah, The Christ, The Son of The Living God! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!!!
