Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.” 1 Peter 4:12-13 NLT
As believers in Jesus Christ we are going to be disliked by some in this world. Not everyone is going to appreciate and agree with the message of the Lord Jesus Christ. We cannot expect this walk to be like a stroll in the park. Speaking, and living, the truth in a sin cursed world is counter culture. The message of Jesus confronts sin and convicts sinners. Some choose to respond with acceptance. Others with rejection and defiance. When we live as disciples of the gospel, we will be loved by some and hated by some. Living and speaking truth to a world that is lost is a brave endeavor. We cannot allow the sentiments of the hearers to influence our message. We are messengers of Christ, not men. When we suffer for our faith, we should count it an honor. Our focus must be fixed on Jesus Christ and His coming kingdom. While we are living here, in this temporary world, we have a responsibility to share the hope of the gospel and to impact the world for His names sake. When we get home, Jesus will welcome us into His kingdom and it will be worth it all. In the meantime, let's stand true and faithful no matter what.
