Let death stalk my enemies; let the grave swallow them alive, for evil makes its home within them. But I will call on God, and the Lord will rescue me. Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the Lord hears my voice. He ransoms me and keeps me safe from the battle waged against me, though many still oppose me. God, who has ruled forever, will hear me and humble them. For my enemies refuse to change their ways; they do not fear God. As for my companion, he betrayed his friends; he broke his promises. His words are as smooth as butter, but in his heart is war. His words are as soothing as lotion, but underneath are daggers!” Psalms 55:15-21 NLT
David was being pursued by his foes and he felt the anguish of the adversity. His adversaries were motivated by evil and he wanted to see their efforts die. Regardless of his struggle, he placed his hope in God. David knew that God was always there, waiting for him to cry out to Him. Though the opposition was fierce, he knew God had him in His care and had the power to rescue him. He also acknowledged that his enemies had no desire to change their ways. Ungodly people often have no conviction or conscience. Evil will always be a part of this world and we will have to contend with it from both "friends" and foes. Time tells a story that nothing else can and it proves men's hearts. No matter what may happen, we must be steadfast and faithful. God will always deliver His children from the evil and give them victory. “The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.” Psalms 34:19 NLT This does not mean that we won't face the furnace of fire that will prove our faith, it simply means that God will be with us and cause us to prevail, whether in the circumstances or in the ultimate end. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had to face the literal furnace of fire in Daniel Chapter 3. Because of their faith they were thrown into the furnace, and, because of their faith God was with them in the fire. Although they had to endure the fire, God delivered them through the fire. The scripture tells us that they believed God could deliver them from the fire but they were willing to face the fire, and die, if need be. “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”” Daniel 3:16-18 NLT Evil never wins and righteousness always prevails!! Stand firm child of God! He is with you!
