May God be merciful and bless us. May his face smile with favor on us. (Interlude) May your ways be known throughout the earth, your saving power among people everywhere. May the nations praise you, O God. Yes, may all the nations praise you. Let the whole world sing for joy, because you govern the nations with justice and guide the people of the whole world. May the nations praise you, O God. Yes, may all the nations praise you. Then the earth will yield its harvests, and God, our God, will richly bless us. Yes, God will bless us, and people all over the world will fear him. Psalms67:1-7NLT
I pray this over our nation today as we embark upon the annual celebration of our independence. For 243 years we have known the blessings of Almighty God in an abundant fashion. No other nation in history has enjoyed this number of consecutive years as a Constitutional Republic. We have, indeed, been granted, by God, the gracious bounties of unparalleled prosperity. However, our nation has lost its way in materialism, consumerism, and hedonism. We, as a nation, no longer have Jesus as the Lord of our land. Yes, there is a remnant of true believers among the nation, but we are currently living in a time when we are more self absorbed than God conscious. Even in our churches we are experiencing a user friendly mentality over a God friendly worship. The Supreme Court expelled God from our public school classrooms in 1962. In 1973, abortion on demand was granted by this same court. Abortion has slaughtered 60 million innocent lives since then. In 2015, that same court endorsed same sex marriage. The White House was lighted with rainbow colors in celebration. Oh how my heart aches with all of this. Is your heart broken over this? We have undermined everything that is foundational and fundamental to our nations vitality. Our families are being torn to shreds and immorality has established itself as the normal way to live. We assume that we are still under God's favor because we have such prosperity but we can't see the forest for the trees. We must not mistake the blessings of God as the approval of God. We must have a great awakening in our stiff necked, stubborn, sin sick, self absorbed churches and society or we will experience the same end as the likes of Sodom and Gomorrah. I love America but I do not love what she has become. I enjoy the blessing of such bounties as we are surrounded with. I am so thankful that I get to own a Bible, attend church with freedom, hear the Word of God preached, have gainful employment, drive on such good roads, eat at such good restaurants, have access to such abundance in the grocery stores, have the privilege to enjoy recreation, have family gatherings, and so much more. I am thankful for the men and women who serve our beloved land and work daily to preserve our freedom. Freedom has never been free. It has been bought and paid for by blood. The greatest freedom was bough with the blood of Jesus. He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. Ephesians1:7 NLT The freedom of our nation was paid for by those who gave their lives in its defense. We are, most certainly, in their debt. In conclusion, I am most grateful to live in this great country, but I am gravely concerned about its current condition and the prospect of its future. Please join me in solemn assembly and prayer to God for a true, Bible preaching, soul redeeming revival. Without it, I know we are without hope. I pray you have an enjoyable holiday tomorrow. I'll be back on Friday. I love you all!
