Dear friends, if we don’t feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence. And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him.” 1 John 3:21-22 NLT
When we live our lives in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ our conscience will be clear. We, then, have the confidence that gives us boldness as we come before Him in prayer. When we walk in right relationship with God it gives us confident access to Him in all that we do. “But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7 NLT We are made children of God through the shed blood of Jesus when we repent of our sin and call upon Him for salvation. As we live out our daily lives, we often become distracted by the cares of life and get derailed in our walk with God. Often, this leads to a weakened conscientiousness of the things of God. This gives opportunity for disobedience. It starts with simple things, like a bad attitude, a short temper, etc. This leads to more serious things. Before we realize it, our walk with God has been disrupted. Our conscience is a very important part of our daily walk with God. If we are living right, our conscience will be clear. If not, it should make us aware of our condition. God has given us this inward alarm system. When we ignore it, we become callous and cold. This is a dark and dangerous place to be. However, when we live under the direction and conviction of the Holy Spirit, our daily walk with God will be clear and satisfying. Our conscience can be at rest. God's peace can cover our soul. This is the only way to live out our lives - under the influence of the Holy Spirit, walking in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ. Are you walking with the Lord or do you know Him at a distance? He sure would love for you to draw up close to Him. If sin separates you, repent and come home. He waits with open arms.
