“I will thank the Lord because he is just; I will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.”
Psalms 7:17 NLT Do you ever take the time to stop what you're doing and simply thank God for what He has done and praise Him for who He is? Thanksgiving is recognizing Him for what He has done. Praise is recognizing Him for who He is. Let me demonstrate with these examples: • Thanks: Lord, I want to thank you for the daily provision of food that You have so graciously given. • Praise: Lord, I want to praise You because You are Holy! There are so many more things we can thank Him and praise Him for. Take the time to specifically, and intentionally, do this today. Sit down and make a list of all the things you should thank Him for. Do the same with the category of praise. Rehearse them over and over. Learn to do it regularly. Develop an attitude and a lifestyle of this behavior. This will lift you up out of the pit and place your feet on solid ground. This will fortify your life against the attacks of the enemy and set you above the clamor of the world. When we develop the discipline of this practice it will help us come away from the negativity and cynicism that floods our society like sewer and it will cast off the stench that tries to veil us like a shroud. Put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, the oil of joy for mourning, and beauty for ashes. “To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.” Isaiah 61:3 NLT Shake off the chains of darkness today and put on the garments of our great God! Sing His praises and lift up your thanks. Clap your hands in celebration and dance in victory. He has overcome the world! Be of good cheer my brothers and sisters. We are more than conquerors through Him. Jesus said it like this:“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.””John 16:33 NLT Paul stated it like this: “No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:37-39 NLT Praise and thank Him right now! Let's act like victors, not victims. He deserves all of our thanks and praise!!! Prayer for today: Father, in Jesus name, I want to take this opportunity to thank You for all the things You have done and all that You are! Forgive me of my doubts and set me free from my fears. Strip me of the garments of pessimism and cynicism. Dress me in the garments of thanksgiving and praise. May the aroma of Your likeness fill my life with the fragrance of Your goodness. In Jesus name, Amen
