Our Shelter and Hiding Place

“Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge. I said to the Lord, “You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.” The godly people in the land are my true heroes! I take pleasure in them!”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭16:1-3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

There are three things to deal with in today's scripture.
1. How many times have we ran to God for refuge? When troubles come, and we need a place to go, God is always there. He patiently and mercifully waits for us to come to Him.
2. Can all of God's people say "God is good"? Yes, He is! Can I get a witness? As the Psalmist David said in today's scripture "every good thing I have comes from you"! God is the source of all that is good. In fact, the only good in this life comes from Him.   “Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Everyone, including the sinner, receives the goodness of God (see Matthew 5:45). The sun that shines, the wind that blows, the rivers that flow, the oceans that crash the shore, the birds in the sky, the fields lush with green grass, and on and on. He is the giver of it all. Can you see? Can you hear? Can you walk? Can you talk? Do you have food to eat, clothes to wear, and shoes on your feet? How about the air you breathe? Can you take the time today to thank Him for His goodness to you? Can you praise Him for the simple fact that He is the epitome of goodness?
3. Lastly, who is your hero? Is it a comic book character or a television personality? As children of God our foremost hero should be Jesus!!! Any other heroes should be those who walk as examples of His character. True heroes point people to God! Are you one of those people?
Prayer for today:  Father, in Jesus name, I want to thank You for being my shelter and my hiding place. I want to praise you because You are good! You are the reason I'm alive. Thank you for godly people who cheer us on in our faith. Many have come before us who carried the torch of the gospel at great price. May my life be vessel of honor to Your Holy and righteous name as well! If I'm going to be a hero to anyone, let it be for Your name sake. In Jesus name! Amen!
