“Well, my brothers and sisters, let’s summarize. When you meet together, one will sing, another will teach, another will tell some special revelation God has given, one will speak in tongues, and another will interpret what is said. But everything that is done must strengthen all of you. No more than two or three should speak in tongues. They must speak one at a time, and someone must interpret what they say. But if no one is present who can interpret, they must be silent in your church meeting and speak in tongues to God privately.” 1 Corinthians 14:26-28 NLT
God is a God of order. Later in this same chapter, the Holy Spirit calls us to do everything in proper order (verse 40). It behooves us to realize how important it is for us to contribute to the uplifting of the entire body. We cannot get caught up in self exaltation or personal flaunting of our own gifts. We must operate under the authority and direction of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will always do what is in the interest of the body of Christ. Let us seek to be obedient to the Holy Spirit and correspondingly give ourselves to His direction in how, where, and when He wants to perform any of the gifts. God has given us great gifts in His church. Let's glorify Him with them! Prayer for today: Father, in Jesus name, may we never quench, grieve, or offend the Holy Spirit. Give us understanding and wisdom as we submit ourselves, as Your church, to the direction of the Holy Spirit! In Jesus name!!! Amen!
