“O God, when you led your people out from Egypt, when you marched through the dry wasteland. The earth trembled, and the heavens poured down rain before you, the God of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel. You sent abundant rain, O God, to refresh the weary land. There your people finally settled, and with a bountiful harvest, O God, you provided for your needy people.” Psalms 68:7-10 NLT
God provided for His people, Israel, as they traveled through the wilderness from Egypt to Canaan. He provided water and food to approximately three million people. There wasn't a single day that He was not faithful to provide for them as they made the Exodus journey. There were no grocery stores, convenient stores, hotels, motels, central air or heat, running water, indoor plumbing, electricity, public safety to escort or to call on in an emergency, etc. God was their all in all. He, personally, brought them out and provided every need. He performed miracles in the desert. He caused a rock to spew water (see Exodus 17:6). He placed manna on the ground each day of the week (except the sabbath - see Exodus 16) so they could eat. He provided quail when they complained about the manna (see Numbers 11:31-35). He stood as a cloud by day and a fire by night (see Exodus 13:21). He parted the Red Sea, led the Israelites across the sea floor on dry ground, and then allowed the Egyptian army to pursue. Once the Israelites were safe on the other side, He drowned the Egyptians in the same waters (see Exodus 14) After wandering in the wilderness for 40 years, because of their complaining and unbelief, they finally reached the promised land. He gave them bountiful harvests, houses they didn't have to build, lands they didn't have to pay for, and vineyards they didn't have to grow (see Joshua 24:13-15). He gave them victory over what appeared to be superior forces because God was their Commander in Chief. God took care of them each step of the way. Today, remember His faithfulness in the past. Trust Him in the present and leave the future in His trustworthy hands. Live in the sure presence and provision of the ALMIGHTY. If He is your LORD, rest in Him. He won't forsake or fail you! “Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”” Hebrews 13:5 NLT
