“For the Lord declares, “I have placed my chosen king on the throne in Jerusalem, on my holy mountain.” The king proclaims the Lord’s decree: “The Lord said to me, ‘You are my son. Today I have become your Father. Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth as your possession. You will break them with an iron rod and smash them like clay pots.’” Now then, you kings, act wisely! Be warned, you rulers of the earth! Serve the Lord with reverent fear, and rejoice with trembling. Submit to God’s royal son, or he will become angry, and you will be destroyed in the midst of all your activities— for his anger flares up in an instant. But what joy for all who take refuge in him!” Psalms 2:6-12 NLT
“and God has now fulfilled it for us, their descendants, by raising Jesus. This is what the second psalm says about Jesus: ‘You are my Son. Today I have become your Father. ’” Acts of the Apostles 13:33 NLT “For God never said to any angel what he said to Jesus: “You are my Son. Today I have become your Father. ” God also said, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son.”” Hebrews 1:5 NLT “That is why Christ did not honor himself by assuming he could become High Priest. No, he was chosen by God, who said to him, “You are my Son. Today I have become your Father. ”” Hebrews 5:5 NLT All of these scriptures correlate together. They are definitely about Jesus. He is the Royal King that sits on the throne. Only Jesus has the distinction as the Son of God! He is the only begotten of the Father (see John 1:14; 3:18; I John 4:9) Here in Psalm 2, Messianic prophecy is being spoken by David, the king of Israel. Jerusalem was the heart of the nation. When Christ comes again, it will be the heart of the nations of the world. Jerusalem means "city of peace". When the Prince of Peace, Jesus, returns, there will be peace on earth. Prayer for today: Father, in Jesus name, thank you for giving us the gift of Your One and Only Son! He is, indeed, the King who sits on the throne and reigns. We worship Him!
