Jesus, the One True God

And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Three times in this scripture the word "true" is used as an adjective to describe God. He is correct, accurate, right, and verifiable. This is an emphatic (to emphasize with direct, forceful clarity) statement of faith!! There is no other God!!! John is giving us an imperative (authoritative) statement concerning Jesus Christ. He is the One who has revealed the True God to us. Jesus is the "Son Of God". This doesn't mean that God has a wife and they had a child named Jesus. What it means is God became a human being in the person and life of Jesus Christ. Jesus was born, humanly, through a virgin named Mary (see Isaiah 7:14; Mathew chapter 1; Luke chapters 1 and 2). He was conceived by the Holy Spirit. “As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭1:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Jesus was Divinely conceived in the womb of Mary. He came to reveal God to humanity and to give His life as a ransom for sin. Jesus is the likeness of the unseen, Spirit God. “For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”” ‭‭John‬ ‭4:24‬ ‭NLT‬‬ In John 14, Philip asked Jesus to show them (the disciples) the Father. “Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you?” ‭‭John‬ ‭14:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Jesus did not find His beginning in the womb of Mary! He existed before the world began. “Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began.” ‭‭John‬ ‭17:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, “This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’” ‭‭John‬ ‭1:15‬ ‭NLT‬‬ John the Baptist was, humanly, six months older than Jesus. How could Jesus exist before John the Baptist? Simple: Jesus was God in the beginning!!! “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.” ‭‭John‬ ‭1:1-3‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Jesus revealed the One True God to humanity. Through Him, we know God!!! There is no other God and there is no other way to God!!! “Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” ‭‭John‬ ‭14:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬
