Jesus is Coming!

“This is my second letter to you, dear friends, and in both of them I have tried to stimulate your wholesome thinking and refresh your memory. I want you to remember what the holy prophets said long ago and what our Lord and Savior commanded through your apostles. Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.” They deliberately forget that God made the heavens long ago by the word of his command, and he brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water. Then he used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood. And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed.”

The Apostle Peter has two books attributed to him in the scriptures, 1 and 2 Peter. Writing to the believers, in this chapter, he reminds them to stay focused on the day of judgment that is coming to this world. In spite of the scoffers and mockers that would try to infiltrate the church to try persuade them otherwise, Jesus is coming again and judgment will fall on those who aren't His!!! Jesus told us that He would return.
“And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? For the Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father and will judge all people according to their deeds.”

“For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes.”

“And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”

“Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven. And everyone will see him— even those who pierced him. And all the nations of the world will mourn for him. Yes! Amen!”

“So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into. You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.”

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.”

When Jesus says something you can count on it!!! He does not, and cannot, lie!!!
Just like the world was destroyed by a flood in Noah’s day, God will destroy the world with fire the next time.
“Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear. “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.”

In today’s lead scripture text above (2 Peter 3) we are told that fire will be God’s instrument of purging the world.
This world in which we now live is under the regime of an evil, illegitimate dictator named Satan. He thinks he is the one that owns this place. WRONG!!
Jesus is the rightful King and He will come again to reclaim His property (this includes those who are His). The world will be wiped clean of all evil men and the regime of Satan will be gone forever!! Until that day, we that are disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ must not allow the rhetoric of the world around us to distract us or derail us. We must remain focused on the Word of our Master! No matter what anyone else says, Jesus is coming and the world will be judged!!!
