These people are as useless as dried-up springs or as mist blown away by the wind. They are doomed to blackest darkness. They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasting. With an appeal to twisted sexual desires, they lure back into sin those who have barely escaped from a lifestyle of deception. They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you.” 2 Peter 2:17-19 NLT
False teachers are pompous windbags. They use their words to deceive the unstable and simple. They, like their father the devil (Genesis 3:1), use craft and subtlety to lure their prey. False teaching always appeals to the rationale of depraved minds and the base desires of immorality. Truth confronts our depraved nature and calls it to repentance. Falsehood seeks to justify and appease humanity’s sin. Truth is only found in God and His Word!!! (Psalm 119:11, 89, 105; John 8:32; 14:6; 17;17; Luke 21:33; 2 Tim. 2:15; 2 Tim 3:16-17). If we are to know the truth, we must search God’s Word, learn God’s Word, and practice God’s Word. One question remains: How well do you know God’s Word??
