“My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Why are you so far away when I groan for help? Every day I call to you, my God, but you do not answer. Every night I lift my voice, but I find no relief. Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. Our ancestors trusted in you, and you rescued them. They cried out to you and were saved. They trusted in you and were never disgraced. But I am a worm and not a man. I am scorned and despised by all! Everyone who sees me mocks me. They sneer and shake their heads, saying, “Is this the one who relies on the Lord? Then let the Lord save him! If the Lord loves him so much, let the Lord rescue him!” Yet you brought me safely from my mother’s womb and led me to trust you at my mother’s breast. I was thrust into your arms at my birth. You have been my God from the moment I was born.”
Psalms 22:1-10 NLT Ever feel like God has forsaken you or that He has remained silent in your cry for help? Many of us have, if not all of us, at some point in our lives. In the midst of the most adverse circumstances, it is a natural struggle to reconcile our situation with God's loving kindness. We "feel" forsaken or forgotten. Jesus, while on the cross, uttered the very words of this Psalm. “At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”” Matthew 27:46 NLT (see also Mark 15:34) Our Lord Jesus uttered the words of natural, physical response to life's suffering. He, too, felt the pain and agony of life's crushing load, yet His was for all mankind, culminating in that one moment of time on the cross. He bore our sorrows and suffering (see Isaiah 53). He was touched by the feelings of our infirmities (see Hebrews 4:15). When life seems unbearable and you feel all alone, let me remind you today that God is right there. He will not forsake His child. He is with us always.“Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.””Hebrews 13:5 NLT “Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20 NLT God has been there all along. We are the ones who misunderstand. He is merciful and patient with us. Whatever you may be facing today, and no matter how you "feel", trust In Him. He will not fail you. Prayer for today: Father, in Jesus name, help me with my doubts and fears. Don't let my circumstances dictate my faith. You have always been there for me and You always will be! I place my complete faith in You today and always will!
