Answer me when I call to you, O God who declares me innocent. Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. How long will you people ruin my reputation? How long will you make groundless accusations? How long will you continue your lies? ” Psalms 4:1-2 NLT
David, the king of Israel, was being undermined by those who were supposed to be his subordinates. He was being maligned by false accusations. The pain and anguish that come from these are deep and intense. The damage that illegitimate accusations can do is extensive. Many innocent individuals have become victims to this very thing. I know, firsthand, the pain and anguish that false accusations can inflict upon someone. My family has endured unspeakable injury and pain due to the unfounded accusations of others who sought to ruin me and my reputation. The only way to grasp the totality of this is to experience it yourself. Maybe you know that pain as well. David cried out to God for vindication. He knew that God knew the truth and that He was able to deliver him from his enemies. You and I would do well to remember this very fact. God is our vindicator and He is our deliverer. If you are facing a situation that is seemingly insurmountable, turn to God and cry out to Him. He is our "refuge and strength in trouble" (Psalm 46:1). Prayer for today: Father, in the name of Jesus, you know my plight. Help me, today, to trust in Your ever watchful eye and Your Almighty hand. You know my situation and You are just. I commit my life, and all that it entails, into Your righteous care. In Jesus name, Amen!
