“I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.”
1 John 5:13 NLT When I was a teenager I remember going on "visitation" with a group of men from the church I attended. I distinctly remember the responses from some of the individuals we approached. When asked if they were going to heaven when they died, they would say "I hope so"! This always bothered me. Death is certain and eternity lies before us. Jesus return is also certain. None of us know the day or hour of either. There are only two choices for eternal reservations: 1. The smoking section (Hell) 2. The non-smoking section (Heaven). Prior reservations must be made to enter heaven. Heaven is a prepared place (see John 14:1-3) for a prepared people (see John 3:1-7; John 14:6; Romans 10:8-13).Hell is our default destination (see John 3:18 and 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9). We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (see Romans 3:23). Salvation (deliverance from the power and penalty of sin) is a gift from God (see Romans 6:23; Romans 5:12-21; Ephesians 2:8-9). We cannot achieve it!! We must receive it!! Only One person has earned salvation for all who call upon Him!!! His Matchless Name is JESUS!!! Through Christ, and Christ alone, are we redeemed. (see Acts 4:12). What can walk away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus!!! What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus!!! O, precious is that flow that makes me white as snow (see Isaiah 1:18). We, as believers in Jesus Christ, can have assurance of our salvation. Please re-read the scripture of the day in 1 John 5:13. Do you have the absolutely certainty that your reservation is paid and made? I'm so glad I do! Hallelujah!!! If you have your ticket (salvation through Christ Jesus), say Amen!! Now, let's make some preparations for the trip. Let's live our lives in honor of, and obedience to, the One who paid for our ticket and who has written our names in the reservation book.
