“O Lord, don’t rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your rage! Your arrows have struck deep, and your blows are crushing me. Because of your anger, my whole body is sick; my health is broken because of my sins. My guilt overwhelms me— it is a burden too heavy to bear. My wounds fester and stink because of my foolish sins. I am bent over and racked with pain. All day long I walk around filled with grief. A raging fever burns within me, and my health is broken. I am exhausted and completely crushed. My groans come from an anguished heart.”
Psalms 38:1-8 NLT Has life ever left you spiritually broken, physically sick, and emotionally exhausted? David the king felt that way. Circumstances had taken their toll. Sin had brought it's awful consequences and his enemies were relentlessly pursuing his death. Frankly, he felt forgotten! Ever feel that way? Loneliness sets in when we are in the midst of adversity and we feel like the world is against us. Guilt over sins committed sits upon us like a saddle. We long for remembrance, the loving touch and embrace of our Father. We yearn for a better time and place. Anguish bears heavy upon our souls like a ball and chain. We simply desire to find rest and to be free from the shackles and chains. If only God would "remember us". I have great news! He hasn't forgotten us. Life may change like the seasons of a year but we can count on the constancy of our Heavenly Father! He sees all things and He is always attentive to the cry of His children. If life has you broken, sick, and exhausted, cry out to Jesus! He is as close as the mention of His name! He will give you rest, rest that only He can give - rest for your soul. “Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”” Matthew 11:29-30 NLT He isn't your adversary! He is your advocate! “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” Romans 8:31 NLT If you have sinned, call out to Him in repentance and He will run to you!! “My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.” 1 John 2:1 NLT The only hope we have in this struggle of life is the advocacy of Jesus Christ! He is the only one who can appear for us in heavens court and plead our case. Through Him, we have acceptation, representation, justification, sanctification, and future glorification. Child of God, the battle may be intense, but the war has already been won! Victory is assured and the best awaits us just ahead! Don't doubt in the darkness what God has revealed in the light. Don't relinquish your armor in the midst of the fight. Fight on! Fight on! He is with us!
