Disappear Like Smoke

“But the wicked will die. The Lord’s enemies are like flowers in a field— they will disappear like smoke.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Whether in this moment or in the time to come, wicked people will perish. Their lives will fade into nothing more than a memory. Nothing that the wicked do will last beyond this lifetime. The only heaven they will ever know is this current, temporary state of existence. Evil is certainly a part of our fallen world. We must remember that this life is fleeting and the only thing that matters is our relationship with God! He is eternal! Nothing that is tangible in this life is eternal. Everything we see, hear, smell, taste, and touch is perishing. Like smoke, it dissipates and fades away. Originally, it was not this way. God made man and placed man in the garden as the manager of the earth He had made (see Genesis 1 and 2). We were made to live eternally. Our sin disrupted that (see Genesis 3:1-7). Sin brought immediate spiritual death and inevitable physical death. Sickness, sorrow, and suffering were sins result (see Genesis 3:8-24 and Romans 6:23). Wickedness found it's way into the world and Cain killed his brother Abel (see Genesis 4:1-16). One bad marital decision by Adam cost us our perpetual living. Yes, Eve was tempted, but we didn't die until Adam ate the fruit (see Genesis 3:1-7). Adam was the priest of his marriage, and his home called earth, as well as the overseer of the garden (see Genesis 2:15-17). He was responsible for keeping things in order with God's command. When he submitted to Eve's suggestion, their children forever paid the price. What a lesson for us who are parents. We must bear in mind the price our children pay for our bad decisions. God is the only One who is innately eternal. We find our eternal salvation in Him through Jesus Christ our Lord!  Today, don't look to the evil world around you. Look to the One who gives us hope beyond this fallen state. One day, evil and evil people will be no more!!
