City of Peace

On the holy mountain stands the city founded by the Lord. He loves the city of Jerusalem more than any other city in Israel. O city of God, what glorious things are said of you! (Interlude). I will count Egypt and Babylon among those who know me— also Philistia and Tyre, and even distant Ethiopia. They have all become citizens of Jerusalem! Regarding Jerusalem it will be said, “Everyone enjoys the rights of citizenship there.” And the Most High will personally bless this city. When the Lord registers the nations, he will say, “They have all become citizens of Jerusalem. (Interlude). The people will play flutes and sing, “The source of my life springs from Jerusalem!”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭87:1-7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The psalmist is raving over the city of Jerusalem! Rightfully so!! This is the city that is the center of the world. The epicenter of the kingdom of God! This city will be the center of the Kingdom of Heaven also! The name "Jerusalem" means "King of Peace" and "City of Peace". The word "jeru" means "king". The word "salem" comes from the same root word "shalom" which means "peace". When the Prince of Peace, Jesus, returns, this city will truly be the "City of Peace"!! The King will reign forever!!! All tribes, tongues, and nations that have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord will be the citizens of that city. The One True King will is Jesus and He will reign on the throne of king David forever! In 2 Samuel 5: 6-7, David conquered Jerusalem. He conquered the city around 1000 B.C. and designated it as the holy city of God for the nation of Israel. In 1 Kings 8:1, Solomon declared this to be the place of the Ark of God (Ark of the Covenant). Solomon built the Temple there about 40 years after David had conquered it. The city has been referred to, by many, as Mt. Zion. Zion is the name of a hill south of the Temple Mount. I, too, love the city of Jerusalem! I can't wait for the day when the New Jerusalem will become the capital of the earth (see Revelation 21). There will be no more divisive religious debates and arguments. Once and for all, the truth will be known to all of the world that Jesus is Lord and Jerusalem is His city!!!
