“Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.” James 1:19 NLT
This Scripture is a very practical nugget of wisdom. We all have two ears and one mouth. God wants us to listen more than we talk. Listening is more than simply being quiet, it is focusing on the content, and intention, of the words being said. Often we "hear" words being said but we don't capture what the person is saying because we are un-engaged and/or distracted. When we are careful with our words, we will also be careful with our temper. It would do us all well to listen intently, speak thoughtfully, and monitor our temper carefully.
