“There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judges you.” James 2:13 NLT
Mercy - What a word! All of us have been recipients of God's mercy. Mercy, by definition, is God withholding deserved judgment. In today's scripture we are told that those who show no mercy to others will be shown no mercy on judgement day. Jesus taught this same principle in Matthew 5:7: “God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” NLT. Jeremiah stated this in Lamentations 3:22-23 "The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” NLT Are you glad that God's mercies are steadfast and new each day? Imagine your life if you got what you deserved instead of God's mercy. That thought should humble us before God in eternal gratitude. If we truly understand how merciful He has been to us, we should be motivated to be merciful to others. Do you truly understand how merciful God has been to you???
