“O my people, listen to my instructions. Open your ears to what I am saying, for I will speak to you in a parable. I will teach you hidden lessons from our past— stories we have heard and known, stories our ancestors handed down to us. We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and his mighty wonders. For he issued his laws to Jacob; he gave his instructions to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children, so the next generation might know them— even the children not yet born— and they in turn will teach their own children. So each generation should set its hope anew on God, not forgetting his glorious miracles and obeying his commands. Then they will not be like their ancestors— stubborn, rebellious, and unfaithful, refusing to give their hearts to God.”
Psalms 78:1-8 NLT We must always remember that the life we live, and the faith we have, are passed down to us from preceding generations. We have a responsibility to carry the torch of the gospel to our generation and successfully hand it to the succeeding generation. We must not squander this divine call (see Deuteronomy 6: Whole Chapter). The lives of future generations are dependent upon the truth. We cannot afford to fumble the ball. Many lives today have been grossly impacted by the lives of their predecessors. The values we hold, the priorities we have, the choices we make, and the character we develop are influencing the next generation. Will we be more concerned about chasing the American dream or will we be fixed upon chasing the kingdom of God? Many of us are caught up in the rat race of life and we are killing ourselves trying to pursue our own ambitions. Most of us are spending our days chasing the wind and the proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. We spend our days filling our heads with the nonsense of the society rather than filling the society with the knowledge of God. We were created for so much more than the casualties we have become as a result of our upbringing. May God break the generational curses that have been imposed upon us from preceding generations and also the decisions we have made in the current generation. Time is of the essence. The seconds, minutes, hours, and days never stop. How are we spending them? Frankly, I am alarmed that so many are more interested in their personal pleasure than God. We go to great lengths to find ways to "enjoy" life yet we make any excuse not to read the Bible, attend church, and live righteously. We are paying the price for not knowing and/or ignoring God's Word. The news casts spew their rhetoric all over us like a sewer and propagate our minds to their twisted views of the world. Corrupt minds cannot correctly view life. Humanity, apart from Christ Jesus, is utterly depraved!! The only way a man or woman can view the world correctly is through the lens of Scripture. God has given us an instruction manual and we must teach it to our children. The simple fact is that, in most cases, we haven't, and we are paying the awful price of uncivilized, barbaric social disorder. The deplorable dysfunction we see before us is a direct result of the absence of the Word of God in our homes and churches. The fathers and mothers of our time are greatly lacking in their understanding of life. They have no knowledge of the Bible. This lack of the truth, which undergirds and equips us to know where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going, is eerily absent from the education of our children. We send our children to public schools that have become increasingly hostile to God and where they learn that evolution is our origin. Hogwash!!!!!! We give our children "better things than we had" when we are actually giving them much less. Oh how we have missed the boat. God help us!! Truth be told, the truth is absent in many of our churches today as well. Many admire the sacred text but are immune to its transforming power. They have become cold and indifferent. The pulpits are no longer ablaze with the fire of the Holy Spirit and we are more concerned with being user friendly than with truth!! We have a form of godliness but deny its power. Thus, a culture that has gone mad!! In the political world, we need to stop the narrative of trying to legislate enough laws to stop evil men from perpetrating horrific crimes. No matter how many laws we pass, evil will prevail as long as Christ is not the Lord of one's heart and life! Evil men will perpetrate evil in spite of laws on the books. The real need is the transformation of man's heart by the eternal truth of God's Word!!! When we get THE BOOK in them, then we will see the law written on their hearts. “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” Psalms 119:11 NLT The reason I don't perpetrate evil upon my community is because of Jesus Christ. The reason I love my wife is because of my love for Jesus and his Word! He has instructed my heart in His ways. When a man owns a gun, knife, or any other weapon, if his heart belongs to Jesus, he will not utilize them in a manner other than what is proper and wholesome. In fact, he will be an asset to his community. The issue isn't the device. The issue is his heart! Jesus said this: “For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander.” Matthew 15:19 NLT Only righteous principles instilled into the spirit of a man can transform His understanding and behavior. This is the real need of the hour!! This begins at home. Let's not expect prayer to be returned to schools until it is returned to our homes. Please Lord, grant us mercy! We are in the most desperate place. Awaken us!! In Jesus name!!! Amen!
