Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.”
1 Peter 2:11-12 NLT We must always remember that we are only here in this life for a finite (limited) amount of time. Death came because of sin (Genesis 3:1-7) but redemption came through Jesus Christ Romans 5:12-19). The only opportunity we have to get right with God is in this life. Our eternal destination is determined by our acceptance or rejection of the Lord Jesus Christ. It would be utterly foolish and senseless to reject the lifeline that would save us from drowning. We are all going to die! I pray that God allows us to live as long as possible on this side of eternity but I also pray that He always keeps us mindful that this world, as we now know it, is not our home. We must live each and every day under the realization that God is watching us. We are supposed to be representing Him. We must also remember that our lives are also being watched by others. Sin is constantly trying to pull us down. We need to look to Jesus and ask Him for wisdom as we navigate through this wilderness we call life. The devil wants nothing more than to pull you beneath the turbulent waters of sins desire. Jesus stands ready and able as our lifeline. Each and every day, in each and everything we do, we must consider the decision we are making. Are we living for Christ or are we succumbing to the lust of sin? Christ is calling us to a life of holiness. He will come to judge the world! We need to live with this in mind.
