God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT When we trusted in Christ as our Savior we received an immediate response of God's grace. There were no conditions attached to the transaction. We were the recipient of a gift. When a gift is given there is no cost to the recipient. The giver bears all of the expense. A gift is given at the desire of the one who wants to impart something to the one receiving the gift. Love is the motivation of true gift giving. God does not begrudge any kindness He shows. He only desires to bestow upon His creation the Love of who He is. The reality is this: all people, saved or unsaved, are recipients of God's grace. If it weren't for His grace we would all be doomed. The distinction is between those who have received His saving grace and those who have rejected the gift. You see, I can pay for a gift, wrap it up nicely, and even carry it to an individual. However, the gift doesn't officially become theirs until they reach out and take it from the one offering it. Have you received the gift of God: Eternal Life!!! It has been bought and paid for. The offer stands. It's up to you. Once you receive the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ you are made new. You now have the character of the Holy Spirit to rely upon as you live a life of honor to the One who has saved you. You were saved for more than sitting, soaking, and souring on a church pew. You were saved to represent Christ. Act like it!!
