Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said, “Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”” Ephesians 5:10-14 NLT
It is essential that disciples of Jesus be circumspectly (cautiously and carefully) observant in all that we do. We should always be conscientious of every detail of our daily conduct. Every word, thought, and deed should be examined by the Holy Spirit. It seems that, in many churches today, the message is only about God's love, acceptance, and grace. Yes, this is the essence of the gospel. Without doubt, we are saved by grace. There is one question: Why did He save us? He saved us to restore us. We were lost and dying. He saved us to redeem us (buy us back from the slavery of sin). He didn't save us to sin. He saved us from sin. We are to display the character of the one who is our master. Since He has reached down into the miry clay of our sin and rescued us from certain death, it behoves us to live a life becoming of our new life in Him. If we are children of the light then let us shine like the light. How can we say that Jesus Christ is our Lord and yet live in utter darkness? Light drives out darkness!
