So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.” Colossians 1:9-10 NLT
Paul offered up unceasing prayer for the Colossian believers. His petition in prayer was that God would grant a complete understanding of His will as well as spiritual wisdom and understanding. This is a prayer we should all be praying for ourselves and others. We cannot walk pleasing to God without a proper understanding of what He desires. A sensitive conscience and a discerning spirit will help us be directed by God in all we do. Ignorance of who God is and what He has revealed in His Word results in misunderstanding and disobedience. A proper understanding of God and His Word results in fruitful living. As we grow in our knowledge of God's Word and apply its principles, we become more capable of discerning the Spirit and serving our Lord in His perfect will. Today, lets us pray for one another that we may grow in our wisdom and understanding so we may do our Lord's will.
