“But suppose we seek to be made right with God through faith in Christ and then we are found guilty because we have abandoned the law. Would that mean Christ has led us into sin? Absolutely not! Rather, I am a sinner if I rebuild the old system of law I already tore down. For when I tried to keep the law, it condemned me. So I died to the law—I stopped trying to meet all its requirements—so that I might live for God. My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.” Galatians 2:17-21 NLT
Simply stated, Christ died in our place as the perfect, sinless sacrifice because we were incapable of perfectly keeping the law of Moses. Only He (Jesus) was sinless and capable. Now that He has atoned for our transgressions, we are able to come to God. We do not accept God's payment for our sin and then try to pay more on a debt that has been satisfied. It is done!! We are free and clear of the debt that once enslaved us to its oppressive burden. We are free!! Now that we are free, we must act free. God wants to see us dance in the glorious splendor of His grace. He joys in watching His children bask in the glory of His presence. He's glad we are home. One thing: May we never forget that His grace found us in our dark, sinful rebellion and brought us home again. Because of Him, we can enjoy the indescribable joy of knowing that we are safely home. Prayer for today: Father, in Jesus name, I want to tell You how thankful I am that You sought me out and found me. You rescued me from my darkness and took me home where I belong. Thank you Abba (Papa, Daddy)!!!
