And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.” Colossians 2:6-10 NLT
We must continue to believe in, and trust, The Lord Jesus Christ. No one else will do!! Just as Paul says in the above scripture, we must let our roots go way down deep into Jesus and our feet stand squarely upon Him. We do this by our faith in who He is and what He has done. Paul warned the believers in that time not to be caught up in the empty philosophical nonsense that was being taught by other "so called" followers of Jesus. There was, and is, only One Jesus. We cannot try to make Him fit our rationale or our personal preferences. He is no less than God in a human body. (see verse 9). This scripture is absolutely and resoundingly clear about who He is. There is no need to interpret this in any way other than in its intended clarity - Jesus - God in a man's body. In fact, verse 10 exclaims emphatically (insistent without doubt) that we are complete (made whole and perfect) through our union with Christ. This truth ought to make you, as a believer in Jesus, want to shout to the top of your lungs with joy and freedom. Jesus is the God of Creation that has recreated us. Whew!!!!! Wow!!! Hallelujah!!!!!!! Shout saints, shout!!! "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so..." Psalm 107:2 KJV. In Him we live, move, and have our being (Acts 17:28). One church hymn declares "My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly trust in Jesus name. On Christ the solid rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand." We, the church of the Lord Jesus Christ, must return to the central truth of God Himself, Jesus Christ. We cannot allow ourselves, or the church, to demean Him by our human, traditional assumptions or by trying to figure Him out by our finite (limited), puny minds. Accept the Word of God as the Word of God. God has spoken to us, and revealed Himself to us, in the person and work of Jesus Christ! He is the ultimate authority (see verse 10 above).“ And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” Matthew 28:18 KJV The word "LORD" in the New Testament is often used as the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew name for God - Yahweh or Jehovah! JESUS IS LORD!!!
