“Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:2-3 NLT
Our thoughts should be focused upon eternal matters, not the temporary. Focusing on the matters of the natural life only leads to an end - we all die. No matter who we are, what educational achievements, financial status, church affiliation, position, popularity, etc., we are all mortals. We are here for a moment, then gone. What meaning is there to life if we live 70-100 years and reject the One who gave us life? Life doesn't have meaning and purpose apart from Christ. It is vital that we understand who the Creator is and the purpose of His creation. Only when we surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ can we begin to understand the life we are supposed to be living. Only when we live in Him can we unlock the treasure chest of eternal life. We were created for so much more than barely getting by, surviving divorce, health complications, struggling to make it through the day, and dealing with disease and war. Only Christ brings peace in the midst of trouble, joy in the midst of sorrow, comfort in the midst of distress, and certainty in the midst of uncertainty. Jesus brings light into darkness and hope in the midst of hopelessness. In Him we find the Creator of life, the meaning of life, and eternal life to come. When we live in Him, for Him, we really live. Are you living or are you simply surviving?
