“But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.”
Romans 8:9-11 NLT Through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, who resides in all who have truly been born again, we have been set free from sins power, which is death (see I Corinthians 15:56). As we have said previously, death to us is cessation of natural, human life. Death to God is separation from Him spiritually. Spiritual death is removed in Christ. Physical death is still a part of our natural, human experience because of sin. However, just like Jesus resurrected from death, the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us. Therefore, even though physical death comes, we live on in eternity and, one day, at the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we will experience physical resurrection. (See John 11:25-26; I Corinthians 5:1,6,8; 15:51-58; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; I John 3:1-3).
