“Oh, foolish Galatians! Who has cast an evil spell on you? For the meaning of Jesus Christ’s death was made as clear to you as if you had seen a picture of his death on the cross. Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law of Moses? Of course not! You received the Spirit because you believed the message you heard about Christ. How foolish can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort? Have you experienced so much for nothing? Surely it was not in vain, was it? I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.” Galatians 3:1-5 NLT
The Holy Spirit is imparted to the believer only under one name: JESUS!!! We do not receive the person and presence of God into our lives by keeping a set of regulations. We receive the presence of God, through the person of the Holy Spirit, by faith in Jesus Christ. The Father acknowledges no other means of reception and impartation. As the hymn "In Christ Alone" says: "In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song;this Cornerstone, this solid Ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My Comforter, my All in All, here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone! who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones he came to save: Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied - For every sin on Him was laid; Here in the death of Christ I live. There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain: Then bursting forth in glorious Day, Up from the grave he rose again! And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,For I am His and He is mine - Bought with the precious blood of Christ. No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me;From life's first cry to final breath. Jesus commands my destiny. No power of hell, no scheme of man,Can ever pluck me from His hand; Till He returns or calls me home, Here in the power of Christ I'll stand." (Music by: Keith Getty ; Lyrics by Stuart Townsend) I couldn't say it better. Let these words resound in your heart today!
