"Think of it this way. If a father dies and leaves an inheritance for his young children, those children are not much better off than slaves until they grow up, even though they actually own everything their father had. They have to obey their guardians until they reach whatever age their father set. And that’s the way it was with us before Christ came. We were like children; we were slaves to the basic spiritual principles of this world. But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.” Galatians 4:1-7 NLT
We are no longer slaves to the law. We are children of God!!! We call Him Abba (Aramaic for Papa, Daddy). We do not have to be afraid of Him. He has adopted us through His Son Jesus. We are heirs to His kingdom. We were slaves to the law because of sin, but since we have received Jesus Christ as our pardon we are set free. We are no longer called slaves, we are called sons. As a son, we are free men. The reason we obey Him now isn't out of lawful obligation, rather out of our desire. Our spiritual genetic makeup has been transformed. We are no longer the same. “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT Since we are sons and not slaves, let us accept our freedom and use it to honor our Father's greatness. Prayer for today: Father, in Jesus name, I accept and recognize Your amazing grace that has birthed me into Your family. As Your child, help me live to honor You, not out of obligation to a contract, but out of love for You as my Abba.
