“Before you Gentiles knew God, you were slaves to so-called gods that do not even exist. So now that you know God (or should I say, now that God knows you), why do you want to go back again and become slaves once more to the weak and useless spiritual principles of this world? You are trying to earn favor with God by observing certain days or months or seasons or years. I fear for you. Perhaps all my hard work with you was for nothing. Dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to live as I do in freedom from these things, for I have become like you Gentiles—free from those laws. You did not mistreat me when I first preached to you. Surely you remember that I was sick when I first brought you the Good News. But even though my condition tempted you to reject me, you did not despise me or turn me away. No, you took me in and cared for me as though I were an angel from God or even Christ Jesus himself. Where is that joyful and grateful spirit you felt then? I am sure you would have taken out your own eyes and given them to me if it had been possible. Have I now become your enemy because I am telling you the truth?”
Galatians 4:8-16 NLT Jesus has saved us from the ungodly life we used to live. Once we were slaves to sin but now we are free from the shackles that held us in bondage. Christ has unlocked the shackles and loosed them from our feet. We can now walk in freedom. We are born again to live as the royal family of God. Let's not look back or go back to the slavery of the past. “A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” John 8:35-36 NLT True freedom isn't being an American. Yes, I'm most grateful that I live in the "land of the free" and "home of the brave". However, I am a free man through Jesus Christ. Sin holds every man in slavery. Jesus is the real Emancipator!!! Reading from the scroll of Isaiah 61:1-2 Jesus says this about Himself: ““The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the LORD’s favor has come. ”” Luke 4:18-19 NLT Prayer for today: Father, in Jesus name, thank you for setting me free!
