“Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh, who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name's sake, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ; to all who are beloved of God in Rome, called as saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Romans 1:1-7 NASB What a mouthful!! In just a few verses, the Holy Spirit, through the apostle Paul, gives a complete overview of the call of the gospel, the person of the gospel, and the recipients of the gospel. Paul is writing to the church at Rome with the sole purpose of outlining the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ in order to give them a sure foundation of faith upon which to stand. The doctrinal and practical teaching in the book of Romans is, most certainly, complete and sound. This book is one in which a person could read, accept, and practice as the cathedral of faith. Should anyone apply its teaching, they would, without doubt, live a life of faith that would be most pleasing to God. I encourage you to take this journey with me as we begin the quest. Saddle up your horses! There's a trail to blaze!!
