“Send your grain across the seas, and in time, profits will flow back to you. But divide your investments among many places, for you do not know what risks might lie ahead. When clouds are heavy, the rains come down. Whether a tree falls north or south, it stays where it falls. Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest. Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things. Plant your seed in the morning and keep busy all afternoon, for you don’t know if profit will come from one activity or another—or maybe both.”
Ecclesiastes 11:1-6 NLT Giving generously always brings a return. God has placed a law of sowing and reaping into the course of life. Concerning investing, it is important to diversify. An old saying says "don't place all your eggs in one basket". Wisdom considers present and future uncertainties and prepares. Observing the clouds can help forecast incoming weather. Once a tree falls it can't be stood up again. It lies exactly where it fell. We must make sure we know the direction of our lives. A foolish man has no clear direction. The farmer who waits for perfect weather will never plant or harvest. We, too, must not allow the uncertainty of life to affect our diligence. Do what is right every day and fruit will come from our labor. Harvest only comes to those who sow seeds. We must trust God even when we don't understand. Each day stay busy doing what must be done. God will honor our diligent service. No reward comes to the slothful. Prayer for today: Father, in Jesus name, help me stay busy doing the things that must be done, trusting You with the outcome. Give me wisdom as I serve you daily.
